Flume - Holdin' On (Ft. Freddie Gibbs)

Mom + Pop are planning a deluxe reissue of one of the year's most resounding debuts, Flume. The new version will include an absolutely massive four discs, complete with the original LP, remixes, a 70-minute tour documentary, and a special Abelton Live 9 Lite feature that comes with setups from some of the LP's original tracks. Also included will be a rap mixtape, which features this wonderfully reworked version of "Holdin' On" featuring Freddie Gibbs.

The Flume reissue comes out digitally November 12 and physically December 10. Stream the new version of "Holdin' On" below.

White Sea - They Don't Know

Morgan Kibby, the lovely vocalist alongside Anthony Gonzalez in M83, is stepping out on her own for her first official White Sea LP next year with In Cold Blood. The album's first single is the ultra-impressive "They Don't Know," which touches on her more well-known band's lush and profound theatrics, but does indeed make it unique to her own.

New Smith Westerns - Case & Point

For those, like myself, who haven't gotten enough of Smith Westerns' most recent release Soft Will, the Chicago band released the brand new melancholy B-Side to the upstanding single "Varsity," entitled "Case & Point." Max Kakacek's seminal guitar interplay is still featured, but "Case & Point" ends up being easily one of the more mellow outputs from the band.

New Smith Westerns video - Idol

It seems the love affair with Chicago garage band Smith Westerns has reached another level with the criminally excellent Soft Will, the third LP in the young band's catalog. Not soon after the LP's release, the band debuted the fuzzy VHS-quality house party video for "Idol," which seems to capture the 90s better than most things.

New Smith Westerns - Idol

Chicago's Smith Westerns have already plucked two spirited offerings from the upcoming Soft Will LP, but seemed to have topped both "Varsity" and 3 AM Spiritual" with "Idol." All three tracks - which might be a good indicator of Soft Will as a whole - are far more harmonious than most of the material the group brought out with its self-titled debut and 2011's excellent Dye It Blonde. Expect the rest of the record to hold the same regard, although it may fall by the wayside compared to the year's bigger releases.

New Smith Westerns - 3 a.m. Spiritual

Two months back, we got out first taste of "Varsity", the lead single from Smith Westerns' upcoming third LP Soft Will. And now, nearly a month before the album's scheduled release date, the Chicago band released the tempered "3 a.m. Spiritual". It's as close to what may have been referred to as a ballad, had this band been around in the '60s, with the echo-chamber guitars sweetly falling into a make-or-break finale.

New Wavves - Demon To Lean On + tour dates w/FIDLAR

Last night, Wavves frontman Nathan Williams released some more information on yet another release hyped for early 2013. Wavves new studio LP, Afraid Of Heights, is set for release through Mom + Pop Records March 26. The first official single from the album, "Demon To Lean On," is also available to stream below.

But the more exciting news to go along with it is FIDLAR joining the upcoming Wavves tour. Full dates are listed after the bump, but local fans should be excited for the April 9 show at Johnny Brenda's.

FIDLAR - Shit We Recorded In Our Bedroom EP

FIDLAR's self-titled debut is still a few months away, unfortunately, but there's another (yes, another) new EP from the Los Angeles band, Shit We Recorded In Our Bedroom. The four tracks were previously released by the group over the past few years, but this is the first time its distributed as studio work. Stream the whole thing below, and don't forget to grab the self-titled debut January 22 via Mom + Pop.

New Andrew Bird - The Crown Salesman

As part of the promotion for Andrew Bird's new Break It Yourself LP, the Chicago-native released two covers as part of a 7" of the same name. Bird's cover of Alpha Consumer's "The Crown Salesman" is available to stream below, but you can you grab the download over at his Facebook page here (simply join his mailing list and the song will automatically download).

Break It Yourself is scheduled for release March 6, via Mom + Pop Music.
