Walla + Sombear - Never Give Up/Incredibly Still

Working alongside Death Cab For Cutie guitarist/producer Chris Walla, Minneapolis producer Sombear will release a split 7" vinyl this Record Store Day featuring the sparkling and surprising "Never Give Up" from Walla, and the more poppy "Incredibly Still" from Sombear.

The split will be released via Walla's Trans- Records, which will distribute a limited 1,000 copies for the April 20 event. Additionally, the 7" comes before Sombear's full album release Love You In The Dark, which will be out later this summer.

Friday Bears: Sasquatch! 2012 lineup revealed

Sasquatch!, held every year in the Pacific Northwest, isn't regarded as one of the bigger music festivals in the United States, but is usually regarded as one of the best.

Last year, festival organizers enlisted the talents of the Foo Fighters, Wilco, Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse, The Flaming Lips, and lot more over the course of four (yes, four) days. While that may be fairly impressive for what isn't regarded as one of the year's bigger events, this year's does boast a fairly heavy - although not as top-heavy - lineup, which you can read in it's entirety here.

Notables in this year's lineup include, but are not limited to Jack White, whose solo album is set to debut a few weeks before the fest, and is the first confirmed show of the ex-White Stripe. Alongside White will be Bon Iver, who seem to be on pace to play every festival this year, the ever-elusive Beck, The Shins, Tenacious D, The Roots, and native heroes Shabazz Palaces, among many others, including comedy acts.

Tickets are on sale now for $315. The event will take place May 25-28

Wednesday Bears: TV on the Radio, Death Cab, and Strokes do late night

Last night, TV on the Radio, Death Cab, and The Strokes all made another stop in the ongoing series of their rampant late-night performances.

TV on the Radio, making their first national television appearance since the death of bassist Gerard Smith - a noticeable absence - in late April, performed "Will Do," one of Nine Types of Light's lighter selections on The Tonight Show.

Over at Fallon, Death Cab performed one of the newer singles from Codes and Keys, "You Are a Tourist," as well as a special bonus rendition of "Title Track" from 2000's We Have the Fact and We're Voting Yes.

Monday Bears: New Moon soundtrack is good, self-confliction

Stephanie Meyer's Twilight series is unmistakably the most popular fad (hopefully) coming out of teenage female (or for that matter all female) culture these days. The books and movies are harrowingly stupid and vapid, which some how makes complete sense to why teenagers are obsessing over it. We all know this and we all know I'm not one to ever write about Twilight, but the soundtrack for the upcoming sequel New Moon is, well, good.

The film features original works ranging from Grizzly Bear to Thom Yorke to Muse, confusing me and other music fans dearly. While it is exciting to hear new music from the likes of Yorke, only hearing through means of terribly constructing and culturally flattening films like New Moon seems like the worst way. Still, for those who value the music for what it is and not what it is attached to, ignoring new work from these artists may be worse than actually seeing the film. Maybe.

The Summit Entertainment produced New Moon is set for release November 20 with the soundtrack scheduled for release next Tuesday, October 20. And if you're wondering if the music will catch on with the kids. Yes, it will. Sigh.
