Over the course of the next few weeks, Deer Tick will be releasing bits and pieces of its new LP Negativity up until its formal September 24 release. The first of which comes in the form of a slow-motion, reverse shot video for the criminally crafty "The Dream's In The Ditch." It's a relatively simple video, featuring the band's adventurous limo ride through Providence, Rhode Island, performing the ol' Chinese Fire Drill.
Check it out below. Negativity is set for release September 24 in the U.S. and 30 in Europe, courtesy of Partisan Records. Also catch the band performing "The Dream's In The Ditch" on Conan September 25.

Jack White on Conan
It's hard to argue against Jack White still being the central figure in modern rock music. Following the end of the beloved White Stripes, and lengthy hiatuses in his side-projects, White became more popular than ever in 2012.
White played a special performance of "I'm Shakin'," alongside his familiar all-female band on Conan. Fans should know the two have a lengthy past together; The White Stripes played the final show of Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and the premiere show when he moved to TBS, so this is a little more significant than usual. Check it out below.

Animal Collective on Fallon
A few days back when Animal Collective stopped by Conan to perform Centipede Hz's first single "Today's Supernatural," the results may have not been a solid as they hoped. Last night, changing the scheme up a bit, the band performed "Rosie Oh" on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, complete with their touring decorations. And the results came out a lot smoother. See for yourself below.

Tuesday Bears: The Das Racist debate
Das Racist made their late-night TV premiere last night on Conan with "Michael Jackson," the lead-single off the group's first official studio album Relax (that doesn't include their first two mixtapes, which are still available for free on their website) and, well, it was terrible. No one who saw this performance just became a Das Racist fan.
The NYC trio looked too weird to be interesting or clever, and methodically out of place. Their reputation for their other live shows isn't much better, and with the release of Relax and some Youtube promotion, they've garnered there fair share of detractors. For almost every fan praising their lyrical depth and subtle creativity, there are those who see them as nothing more than a hipster-branded joke rap band that doesn't joke about the things they think are funny.
Makes sense. The mere fact that Das Racist is most people's first exposure to a rap group that isn't white or black is something incredibly rare in the states, and it spins off an unfair perception. That being said, super-intricate rapping with sole focus on lyricism never truly caught on, just like it never caught only completely with ... any genre really.
However, Das Racist (Twitter) seem to revel in it, frequently posting anytime someone says something negative about the group and just truly not trying to give a shit. In a way, they live off the aesthetic extreme of what we consider rap music: not black or white, but racially based; intricate and profound, but comical. It's to a point where you can't take them too seriously, and that's even to the point where you took them seriously in the first place.
Will it last? It's been almost two years since the release of their first mixtape Shut Up, Dude. And if there's any consent, they're more popular now than ever. Your call.

Thursday Bears: Kills bring "Satellite" to Conan
Last night, Allison Mosshart and Jamie Hince (Kills, yall) played "Satellite," the first single off the duo's new album Blood Pressures
, which was released last week, on Conan. The duo we're supported by two older women and Carl Weathers, apparently. Check it.

Thursday Bears: Strokes make Letterman return
The Strokes just seem to fit on Letterman. During their 2000-06 heyday, the band constantly frequented the Late Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien (including month long specials). Now with Conan dearly departed (Jack White/the White Stripes were always his band anyway) from the New York area, and the Strokes already previewing Angles
on SNL, the Late Show seemed apt.
Last night, the group returned, performing the live debut of "Taken for a Fool," one of Angles stand-outs. It still has that classic Strokes-performance cool apathy, but they seem to try a bit harder than they did on SNL a few weeks ago.

Tuesday Bears: Jack White on Conan
Now I don't feel so bad when I only write "Conan" in my Conan O'Brien related headlines.
Last night, Conan made his cable television debut on TBS after the long, and much-anticipated wait for his television return, after NBC's "Tonight Show" debacle. Speaking of, O'Brien was actually the victor in last night's ratings battle between him and Jay Leno.
So the show went off well and ended even better, with Conan and long-time friend Jack White performing Eddie Cochran's "Twenty Flight Rock," with the help of the all-new (ish) Basic Cable Band. See below.

Monday Bears: New Spoon Video - Written in Reverse
Director Danny Clinch recently shot a live black and white noir video for Spoon's new single "Written in Reverse," from the band's recently released Transference LP. Britt Daniel sounds a little more distraught here than he did on Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show finale, coming off a little more raw and forward than before.
The group is currently on the European leg of their tour, but will be hitting up the Southeastern States later this month. Local fans can catch the band with Deerhunter and Strange Boys at Radio City Music Hall in NY, March 26. Transference is out now via Merge Records.

Wednesday Bears: Vampire Weekend and Spoon do Late Night Talk Shows
Before NBC goes into its post-Conan O'Brien collapse, Austin Texas indie icons Spoon hit the Tonight Show stage to perform "Written in Reverse," the lead-single off the group's seventh studio album Transference.
The performance, entirely Spoon-like, is dead on and sounds just like it does in-studio
Spoon - Written in Reverse (Live on the Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien)
Vampire Weekend, fresh off the band's number one debut (seriously, number one on the billboard charts) for their new album Contra, hit the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson to perform their ode to Mexican rice milk, several days after performing on both the Tonight Show and the Late Show with David Letterman. Sadly, there are no jokes here about the late night television landscape.
