Guided By Voices - Littlest League Possible

If the seasons change, that always entails new things. One of which, perhaps more importantly, is that Robert Pollard is making new music again. Early next year, Pollard and the seminal Guided By Voices will be releasing Motivational Jumpsuit, the 21st LP in the band's catalog (that doesn't include Pollard's 20 solo albums and six other full length LP's with other artists). Included on the album is the effective, punchy "Littlest League Possible," which continues to affirm Pollard's love for baseball (maybe).

Stream it below (per Rolling Stone) and watch out for the LP's release February 18 on Fire Records.

Very subtly, Danny Brown was all over 2011, with an awesome album and more guest spots than I can remember. And in case you haven't familiarized yourself with him yet, watch Brown's newest video for "Monopoly," off the aforementioned XXX album - courtesy of Rolling Stone.

Thursday Bears: Our Newest Obsession: WU LYF

It's not too often that the Our Newest Obsession series highlights a band or artist that already seem to have a grasp of success, in some forms. But Manchester, England band WU LYF (all caps) still have an air of mystery about them.

Having already gotten press in NME, Rolling Stone, and other publications, there isn't terribly much to say about the band. How that's possible for a seemingly popular band is pretty miraculous, so take their anonymity right now as some odd blessing.

The group's first album Go Tell Fire to the Mountain was released last June to wide critical appeal, yet the band's quiet distinction still let them go unnoticed. It's about time you did, though.
