Album Stream: Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol.3 - Sun Ra

After releasing the lengthy, unparalleled tribute compilations to jazz legends Pharaoh Sanders and Alice Coltrane, Comsic Compositions released the third portion of its Avant Garde Series, with the Volume Three tribute to the eternal Sun Ra.

The 32-track effort (yes, 32 tracks) features the talents of some wonderful, under-the-radar acts like Whoarei, Jelani, Lord Akton, Tony Douglas, and an army other talented performers. For someone as statuesque as Sun Ra is to jazz, the massive project does its best to keep his honor on a pedestal. The entire compilation is available for free download below, but if you do opt to pay, all the proceeds go towards disaster relief in the wake of the recent typhoon in the Philippines.

Mixtape: Super Helpful Kwame - Sober

Stepping outside his acclaimed Pro Era boundaries, Super Helpful Kwame has floated the wonderfully mutated Sober mixtape.

The particularly warped sounds and approach ache of Kwame's previous work alongside Lee Bannon, with distorted beats dripping through metallic glaze and future-heavy theatrics. Check it for yourself below, free to download or stream.

In the most recent installment in his ongoing Vault Series, DJ Harrison introduced the MixVape Mixtape, which he constructed at the age of 20 in his mother's house. Mixtape: Knxwledge - Touching Bass (Noisey Series)

The newest installment in Noisey's Touching Bass mixtape series comes from LA producer Knxwledge, who packs the near 40-minute smash with low-hung rap hits, warped with mind-melting production. The whole effort is available for stream/download below, and comes with a special interview with the 25-year-old. In it, he talks about his love for jerked chicken, his sneaker collection, and the Jersey-centric samples he taps into on the mix (including a lot from Hype Williams 1998 film Belly, starring Nas and DMX).

Album Download: Knifefight - Knifefight

Knifefight, made up of rapper Beans and Brooklyn producer Mux Mool, has a beauty of a free mixtape courtesy of Anticon.

The six-track effort comes with Mux Mool's calm digital footprint, syncing 80s funk grooves with drags of Euro-fused electro over Beans' hearty verses. The Anti Pop Consortium co-founder also teams up with the likes of Cities Aviv, Kool A.D., and Sub Con on several tracks, making it all the more important that you download it right now.

Album Stream: Harrison - When It Rains

I've touched base very lightly on Toronto producer Harrison a while back this year. His well-versed eclectic touch swayed between jazz revivalism and staunchly accessible hip hop, making an instantly likable, indelible craft seem effortless. His newest project, When It Rains, comes to us at "name your own price" courtesy of his Bandcamp. The 11-track effort finds base everywhere, but largely stays in tune with the autumn inspired jazz sounds.

Stream/download the whole album below.

Album Stream: Dpat - In Bloom

Houston's 23-year-old producer Dpat is already on his second album (still getting around to that elusive first one), with the brand new In Bloom. The seven track record is brimming with convexly cool and contorted rhythms and subtlety enriching harmonics, and is free to download courtesy of his Bandcamp page. As well, kudos to album cover creator Samüel Johnson, who has done previous work with the likes of Active Child, MS MR, XXYYXX, and plenty more. Fantastic work.

Mix: Pearson Sound's Guide to the Music of Dave Huisman

Days ahead of Hessle Audio's August 2 set at Fabric in London, label co-founder Pearson Sound has strung together a mix of tracks from Dutch producer Dave Huisman. The name might not be terribly well known, considering Huisman has an array of aliases, including as A Made Up Sound, Dogdaze, and 2562 - whom he will be performing as during the August 2 set. Mixtape: Knxwledge - Hexual.Sealings.Prt.5

New Jersey/Philadelphia producer Knxwledge (now taking up residence in Los Angeles) has what seems to be his 400th release in 2013, Hexual.Sealings.Prt.5. The 8-track mix is fixates on mellowed out soul remixes and samples, even turning heads on his own "Suit & Tie" remix from Justin Timberlake.

Stream the effort below, or head to Knxwledge's Bandcamp to pitch in on one of his many releases.

Mixtape: Arca - &&&&&

One of the more curious inclusions on last month's Yeezus (which kinda gives some insight now on the direction of the record) was little-known producer Arca. Before his Kanye-assisted breakout, Arca had released a series of Stretch mixtapes, both hiding under 30 minutes a piece. The methods and production was, as they are on &&&&&, purely disorienting and cavernous. Blazing through the 14 tracks in the new 25-minute mix can leave one on empty, with Arca scaling all sorts of directions and auras. For the moment when blissful sincerity seems to creep through, around the end, you might forget the cataclysm that lead to that moment.

It's a pure joy and free to download as well.

Download: Larry Gus - The Blue Flowers (Between Blue and Blue); Madlib beats

Mad genius producer Madlib, perhaps more so than any relevant artist today, has enough produced material to last him several lifetimes already. From side-project efforts, to solo work, and co-oped material, the West coast icon seemingly never runs out of material. And the best part of that for fans is that his catalog seems constantly new, even if its stored in archives or lost in DJ sets. In DFA alum Larry Gus' new "The Blue Flowers (Between Blue and Blue)" mix, the producer travels through 54 minutes of Madlib's material, much of which will still be new to most listeners.

See for yourself below.

Run The Jewels video - 36" Chain

Go back to May of last year. Then, El-P debuted the video for "Full Retard," starring himself and his obscene puppet counterpart, Mr. Killums, who went missing by the video's end. A year later, with Run The Jewels in full force, director Tim Saccenti starts to unravel the mystery of his disappearance with the new video for "36" Chain."

The video follows El-P and counterpart Killer Mike searching for answers through a seedy apartment complex, getting answers from Andrew W.K., Amber Tamblyn, Heems, and others through all the violence necessary.

Watch the video below and grab (you gotta) Run The Jewels today for free at Fool's Gold.
