Album Stream: Cosmic Compositions Avant Garde Series Vol​​.​​3 - Sun Ra

After releasing the lengthy, unparalleled tribute compilations to jazz legends Pharaoh Sanders and Alice Coltrane, Comsic Compositions released the third portion of its Avant Garde Series, with the Volume Three tribute to the eternal Sun Ra.

The 32-track effort (yes, 32 tracks) features the talents of some wonderful, under-the-radar acts like Whoarei, Jelani, Lord Akton, Tony Douglas, and an army other talented performers. For someone as statuesque as Sun Ra is to jazz, the massive project does its best to keep his honor on a pedestal. The entire compilation is available for free download below, but if you do opt to pay, all the proceeds go towards disaster relief in the wake of the recent typhoon in the Philippines.

Four Tet - Gillie Amma, I Love You

Transgressive North and Scottish Love in Action have put together a masterful collections of artists for very admirable cause. The Everything Is New project was created to aid the Dalit, better-known as the "untouchable" children of Southeast Asia, releasing two separate projects. The first of which is the 11-track Sun Choir album curated by English band Marram, which also features help from the likes of Jarvis Cocker, Owen Pallett, and more. The project was recorded over a span of six years on three different continents.

The second piece of the project is the utterly-massive 29-track BOATS, which features Four Tet's "Gillie Amma, I Love You." That track (available below) and the rest of BOATS are individual tracks built from samples of the Light Of Love Children's Choir featured on the aforementioned Sun Choir, in which the artist can choose to do with what they wish.

The lengthy artist list included on BOATS include; Four Tet, Gang Gang Dance, No Age, Dan Deacon, Bear in Heaven, Rustie, Son Lux, YACHT, Califone, Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Sun Airway, Taken by Trees, Capybara, Deerhoof, doseone, El Guincho, Keepaway, Lucky Dragons, Julian Lynch, Matthewdavid, Max Tundra, Physical Forms, Ramona Falls, The Ruby Suns, rRoxymore, Slanter, A Sunny Day in Glasgow, and White Hinterland.

New Ty Segall - Music For A Film 1 (Less Artists More Condos series)

Appearing as the seventh installment in the ongoing split 7" Less Artists More Condos series is Ty Segall and Chad & The Meatbodies. The former of which provided this excellent fuzz instrumental track "Music For A Film 1" - something of a departure of the garage rock revivalist. The latter track, however, is blindingly excellent and a must listen from Chad & The Meatbodies.

As part of the series, the artist featured as the A-Side of the 7" (in this case, Segall) picks the artists they would like to see featured as the B-Side. And for certain, Segall did not miss the mark with his pick.
