Tuesday Bears: New Radiohead (sort of) - The Daily Mail
Up until this point, we've only heard "The Daily Mail" and "Staircase" as live performances from Radiohead, separate from The King of Limbs entirely, but always played within the others. Nearly ten months after the album's release, fans will have their first chance to actually have the two songs, which are set to be released next Monday, December 19. Monday Bears: Radiohead perform Supercollider in that basement
A few months back we caught our first live (whole) live performances of Radiohead's The King of Limbs on BBC's From the Basement series, which any Radiohead fan has become familiar with at this point.
Well, not all the songs from that performance were released, including "Supercollider," which will be available of the DVD/Blu Ray release. Watch below.

Tuesday Bears: Radiohead on Fallon
More Radiohead?
On the cusp of what has now been a confirmed upcoming tour from the England super band (next year), Radiohead made yet another familiar New York City stop on their recent media brigade, this time on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
But with most of The King of Limbs tracklist already performed on Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report, "Giving Up the Ghost" was the next logical choice (if you're keeping tabs, that only leaves the instrumental "Feral" and "Separator" left to be seen). Watch the performance - sans Ed, Colin, and Phil below.

Tuesday Bears: Radiohead on The Colbert Report
As mentioned yesterday, Radiohead Week has officially kicked off. Yesterday morning, tickets went on sale for the band's shows for tomorrow and Thursday at NYC's Roseland Ballroom, and predictably were sold out within a matter of seconds. Despite no one's best-efforts, scalpers got their hands on a large portion of said tickets, and are asking for a modest fee, including up to $4,550. Really.
Lucky for some, shit deal for others. But, the band did make their hour-long appearance on last night's Colbert Report fairly memorable, performing four tracks from The King of Limbs, "The Daily Mail," and a special closing rendition of "The National Anthem," which Comedy Central ended up cutting just short at the end.
You can watch the full episode here, or the individual tracks below.
Radiohead - The National Anthem (Live on the Colbert Report)
Radiohead - Morning Mr. Magpie (Live on The Colbert Report - Web Exclusive)
Radiohead - Codex (Live on The Colbert Report (Web Exclusive)
Radiohead - The Daily Mail (Live on The Colbert Report)
Radiohead - Bloom (Live on The Colbert Report)
Radiohead - Little By Little (Live on The Colbert Report)

The King of Limbs, an introspection
In what some could consider shocking news, Pitchfork gave their long-awaited review of Radiohead's new album The King of Limbs
In relative terms, Pitchfork's next lowest rating for a Radiohead album was Amnesiac
So, what is it then that deviates where The King of Limbs acclimates itself in the Radiohead catalog? Four years after the release of In Rainbows
Hail to the Thief
For some, the album is a reversion to the early-2000s sound of the band where the anthemic guitars of the late-90s ceased to be a mechanism of genial comfort and the group learned to expand boundaries they had previously not traversed. In hindsight, that thought may be implausible; there's little to no way to quantify the new album.
The severe intricacy of the eight tracks is often deceiving, but that's largely an inept excuse for a lack of sheer emotionality that innately touches the average Radiohead listener. That very same emotionality that fans experienced with most of the group's previous albums isn't totally absent this time around, but in the same regard isn't anywhere near that of, say, In Rainbows. Much of Thom Yorke's vocal work is muddled behind modifiers and looping rhythms, perhaps hindering the band's most brilliant asset as well.
But despite its honest contractions, The King of Limbs is still an encapsulating collection of songs, especially for the album's latter half. It's unfortunate, however, that the waning moments of the album's final song, "Separator," remind us of Radiohead's best, as Yorke's swirling wails of "Wake me up/wake me up" fill in the vacuum of silence that make many of us wonder when/if The King of Limbs Pt. II will be released.
So is disappointment surely justified, if that's the consensus? Possibly. Again, this is Radiohead. The fact that they made something that was almost universally penned as lacking astonishing exception is something of a frenetic anomaly, considering the group's unparalleled consistency and pace of altering directions. Anything less than stellar can be considered a disappointment.
To give the album the benefit of the doubt, the full impact of the work cannot be honestly contested until either a second half comes out (only a rumor), or a year or two pass. That's the value of a Radiohead album, in reality - too difficult to accurately quantify without repetitively analyzing every microcosm of significance. It's a lengthy process, but one that usually entails work worth the unquestioned merit.
