Monday Bears: The Strokes return to SNL

As you probably have heard already, the Strokes performed a pair of new songs on last weekend's Miley Cyrus-hosted Saturday Night Live. Alongside "Under Cover of Darkness," Casablancas and Co. debuted "Life is Simple in the Moonlight," a song we've only heard 30 seconds of before.

The consensus is that it seemed a bit, I don't know, phoned in. Plaintively, the group looked unenthusiastic (that's not to say that the songs were actually bad - they weren't), but not in the cool Strokesy way. See for yourself.

Friday Bears: Pitchfork Music Festival lineup released, Lollapalooza rumors

Earlier today, Pitchfork announced the first official part of their annual Chicago music festival lineup (there are usually add-ons later). Filling out the top of the billing are Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes, and TV on the Radio, with a slew of quality undercard performers, such as: Deerhunter, Destroyer, Cut Copy, and James Blake, among others. You can check out the full official lineup and schedule here.

What this all means, for those who may not follow regularly, is that any artist that plays the Pitchfork Music Festival cannot perform at Lollapalooza - per the festival's radius clause. And as a regular, I'm okay with this. TV on the Radio, Deerhunter, Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes and Cut Copy, the festival's bigger names, all played Lollapalooza in the past two years. This opens up more room for artists that may not be considered regulars.

In related news, Titus Andronicus are now expected to perform at Lollapalooza per Consequence of Sound.

Pitchfork Music Festival will take place July 15-17. Tickets are now on sale.

The Thermals new stop(ish) motion animation video for "Not Like Any Other Feeling" is about, um, space. Ya know?

Thursday Bears: New Black Lips video - Go Out and Get It

The Black Lips premiered their first new video since the release of their 2009 album 200 Million Thousand for "Go Out and Get It," a heavily surf-rock laden track produced by Mark Ronson.

The video sets the Atlanta band on a Bahamas cruise full of other fun-loving white people, that was apparently a bitch to shoot.

The group's new album, Arabia Mountain, is scheduled for release in June via Vice Records.

Wednesday Bears: New Strokes video - Under Cover of Darkness

Shortly after midnight, for whatever reason, the Strokes premiered their brand new video (the first from them in five years) for "Under Cover of Darkness," the apparent lead single of Angles, which is due out March 22 via RCA. You know, in case you forgot.
