More and More

You probably haven't seen The Wrestler. I'm not going to dance around the issue, you probably haven't seen it. I haven't either, and sure do wish to, but I just don't see it happening anytime soon. But even if you haven't seen the movie you've heard at least parts of Bruce Springsteen's song for it.

Oh you haven't heard that either? Well there's a video for it to help us out.

Bruce Springsteen - The Wrestler

Good news for the people who read this blog that just want a shit-ton of MP3's. I've got a pretty good collection from Pop Tarts Suck Toasted and My Old Kentucky Blog today including The Yeah Yeah Yeah's new single "Zero" from their upcoming album It's Blitz!

Yeah Yeah Yeah's - Zero - MP3

Oh you may find this mildly interesting too. Pop Tarts Suck Toasted has the "Top 10 Songs about Smoking" (MP3's included), and you know how much I love lists. Here's #1 on the list - The Replacements "More Cigarettes."

The Replacements - More Cigarettes - MP3

Black Joe Lewis is someone I've been very high on recently, especially with his ridiculously good single "Bitch, I Love You" off of his Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears EP. Here's another track from the EP entitled "Gunpowder."

Black Joe Lewis - Gunpowder - MP3

Oh yeah, one more thing; I forgot that M. Ward performed "Never Had Nobody Like You" from his new album Hold Time on Letterman a couple of days ago. Here's the performance.

Wednesday Flurry

It's not actually snowing outside of my New Jersey apartment but I couldn't think of a better word for "a lot of crap" on such short notice. Hey, if you send me one that sounds better I'll give you something nice. Reasonable, but nice.

Anyway, Pop Tarts Suck Toasted posted a nice little batch of songs from one of The Magnetic Fields first albums Get Lost (pre - 69 Love Songs) in a recent Blast From the Past article. Fans of the band's later work would surely be pleased.

The Magnetic Fields - Famous - MP3
The Magnetic Fields - You and Me and the Moon - MP3
The Magnetic Fields - The Dreaming Moon - MP3 (Must Have)
The Magnetic Fields - When You're Old and Lonely - MP3

Chris at Gorilla vs. Bear also has a nice collection of songs you should be taking note of from The Mayfair Set and The Bitters. Yes, I only heard of them because he posted them. Sorry.

The Mayfair Set - Already Warm - MP3
The Mayfair Set - Desert Fun - MP3
The Bitters - Warrior - MP3

Here's another two things I'd suggest for you, whoever you are. Royce at Thanks Captain Obvious posted a video from Bibio (Stephen Wilkinson), who as far as I can tell really thrives in bleak environments. Like spiders and stuff. Has anyone else noticed my articulation has really been going down the drain recently? If not, I'm sorry I brought it up.

Bibio - Top Soil

One more thing. The Unblinking Ear has a new podcast which you should all be very attentive to.

Daily Crap

After a long-weekend of mediocre basketball spectacles - aside from this - I've returned with a little rundown of the best of the last few days.

Last night I got my first taste of Adult Swim's awesome new show Delocated, which has already been endorsed by Aziz Ansari considering he's in everything now. If I ever did another You Should Be Watching segment I'd do one about this, but this website does stuff a little differently now.

Here's a clip.

A couple days ago, and I missed this, the trailer for Seth Rogen's new movie Observe & Report (Not Paul Blart: Mall Cop) was released. You can check out the Red Band Trailer here - note the appearance of Aziz again. That's a two count.

Also, for those who are curious, you can watch this year's Oscar nominated animated shorts here.

Oh, and yes, there's a pair of MP3's today for you guys from Bat for Lashes, who's new album Two Suns is set for release April 6 (via Astralworks). You can check out the review for Two Suns on Pop Tarts Suck Toasted.

Bat for Lashes - Pearl's Dream - MP3
Bat for Lashes - Moon and Moon - MP3

Finally, for anyone who may have missed it, Dan Auerbach performed on Conan last Friday, which by the way means there's only about five episodes left before he moves to Burbank to host the Tonight Show ... after ... Jay Leno again. Anyway, here's Auerbach performance of "My Last Mistake."

One more thing to note. Would you like every album ever made? Here they are.
