Mogwai - Remurdered

Following the band's 2011 effort Hardcore Will Never Die, But You Will, Glasgow band Mogwai will be delivering its eighth studio album early next January, with Rave Tapes.

The direction of the supreme instrumental group remains the same, even building from the nightmare aesthetic of its most recent project, Les Revenants - a French horror show being shown in the U.S. as The Return on Sundance Channel. Listen to the first cut from the album, "Remurdered," below.

Rave Tapes will be released January 20 in UK under the band's Rock Action imprint, on Spunk in Australia, and Hostess in Japan. Sub Pop will be handling release duties in the U.S. for January 21, with pre-orders available.

Washed Out video - All I Know

For one of the prettiest singles of the year, writer and director Daniel Kragh-Jacobson opted for using stark parallels instead of the normal serene beauty found in Washed Out's videos. "All I Know" starts with an uncomfortable late night discussion about an ex-girlfriend, which seems more fragile than it does angry. It eventually evolves into something more fitting once the track kicks in, with the protagonist venturing off into obscure suburbia.

New Washed Out video - Don't Give Up

Following the lustful chilled-out vibes that flow so effortlessly from Washed Out's young catalog, director Kate Moross paired the brand new "Don't Give Up" perfectly with natural imagery. The entire video is a well-shot travel through the animal kingdom, which always seems to come out at the right time of the year.

New No Age - An Impression

West coast noise freak duo No Age turned the off-putting scales off balance with last month's "C'mon Stimmung," the first single from the band's upcoming Sub Pop release An Object. A few days back, the band debuted the decidedly less chaotic "An Impression," which, yes, features some distortion, but comes through as one of the clearer and more direct efforts of the band in recent memory. There's even orchestration in the home stretch, if you can believe it.

New METZ video - Get Off

METZ, one of the best new punk bands in recent years, debuted the brand new video from the trio's self-titled debut for "Get Off." The animated feature, which was actually directed by fellow Sub Pop alum Chad VanGaalen, comes off in a very Heavy Metal style. Check it out below.

New No Age - C'mon Stimmung

It's kinda unclear what "C'mon Stimmung" actually means (you tell me), but who cares? It's brand new No Age, dammit.

The messy, profusely chaotic and disorienting track is the first from the band's upcoming new LP An Object, which will be released August 20 on Sub Pop. Listen to it below.

New Washed Out - It All Feels Right

If the sun is out at this very moment, then stop wasting time and stream "It All Feels Right," the first singles from Washed Out's upcoming LP Paracosm. Like a lot of what Ernest Greene churns out, "It All Feels Right" sounds like a glistening sunset, and has a lyric video with plenty of forest-like imagery to support that assumption.

Paracosm is set for release August 12 on Sub Pop.

Low - So Blue

Minnesota's Low is offering the sobering and beautiful "So Blue" from its forthcoming The Invisible Way LP, which is out of Sub Pop next month.

The heady single follows the band's previously released tracks "Plastic Cup" and "Just Make It Stop," which will also be featured on the new album. Stream/download it below, and grab The Invisible Way March 19.

New Still Corners - Berlin Lovers

London dream pop duo Still Corners, which released the dutifully memorable "Fireflies" 7" late last year, have another preview of their upcoming Sub Pop debut, Strange Pleasures.

New Pissed Jeans video - Bathroom Laughter

Everyone seems to be in love with Pennsylvania punks Pissed Jeans' (lots of "p's" there) fourth studio LP Honeys. So if you're feeling left out, here's the band's newest video from the album for "Bathroom Laughter." It's a disastrous look at late-night infomercials, which turns out to be one of the funniest videos of the young year.

New Beach House video - New Year

As it is, welcome back and to 2013. It's been a long vacation for some, so getting back into it is endearingly necessary.

Earlier today, Beach House premiered the home movie video for the aptly-timed "New Year." The near six-minute video was filmed during the band's recording session for last year's Bloom at Sonic Ranch Studios in Texas. Cats included.

Dum Dum Girls - End Of Daze (EP Stream)

Dum Dum Girls' newest EP End Of Daze won't be out officially until September 25, but Sub Pop is streaming all five tracks already. It's what you expect from the all-girl foursome; glorious lo-fi, 60s-inspired pop, rich in dreamy vocals. Check the whole thing out below.

METZ - Headache

This cut-throat mash from Toronto-via-Ottawa punk three-piece METZ, is from the band's upcoming October self-titled debut. The album is due out Oct. 9, via Sub Pop, with the band making a few tour stops before the release, including August 30 at Kung Fu Necktie in Philly.

New Father Jon Misty - Nancy From Now On

I was generally a fan of J. Tillman's work, in and outside of Fleet Foxes, and the same is pretty true under his Father John Misty moniker. The echoed, subdued folk-pop of "Nancy From Now On" follows up the first single "Hollywood Forever Cemetery Slings" from his upcoming album Fear Fun, which is due out May 1 on Sub Pop. Monday Bears: New Shabazz Palaces - Black Up

Normally, I'd be posting about the Black Keys performance from last week's Saturday Night Live, but judging on how it seems like EVERY live performance on that show just sounds sub-par, I'll skip it (by the way, Robyn will be the guest next Saturday).

Instead, check out Shabazz Palaces wonderfully shot summation of his most recent album Black Up, available now via Sub Pop. If you aren't familiar with the album that already is, or soon will be, on the top of all the end of the year lists, this five minute video sells it well.
