Small Black video - Breathless

Director Nick Bentgen helms the most recent Small Black video for the synth-crunch heavy "Breathless."

The video is a stirring, romantic collage of youth in a myriad of forms, from troubled inner city kids, to white privileged suburbanites, to endlessly curious teens. It makes, in the end, for a lovably aimless display of modern youth that could fit very well into past generations.

New Small Black video - No Stranger

Taking one of an album's most romantic tracks and turning it into an even more romantic video fairly admirable. For "No Stranger," one of the more endearing tracks from Small Black's recently released Limits Of Desire, directors Mandy Mandelstein and Addison Mehr focus on a man who sees on a woman on a train, imagining the life they could have together if he didn't miss out on this chance to talk to her.

New Small Black - Free At Dawn

Brooklyn's Small Black are back after a near three-year layoff from its debut LP New Chain. While the previous LP hitched on the growing chillwave push of the early 2010's, much like the band's fellow genre members its newest work has a definite matured tone.

"Free At Dawn," first single from the band's upcoming Jagjaguwar release Limits Of Desire, could work as the most emotional dig of (insert current movie with young people), with subtle, romantic vocals and rising rhythms throughout.

New Foxygen - No Destruction

A day after Foxygen debuted their brand new "San Francisco" video, the band debuted the next track from their upcoming We Are the 21st Century Ambassadors of Peace and Magic, "No Destruction." A straight-up storyteller throwback to Dylan-era post-folk in the weary ire of Belle & Sebastian.

Friday Bears: Bon Iver's 4AD/Jagjaguwar session

Enough Justin Vernon's acceptance speech at last Sunday's Grammy Awards. The brainchild behind Bon Iver released a near-25 minute performance of songs from his last self-titled album, 2009's Blood Bank EP, plus his well-known cover of Bonnie Rait's "I Can't Make You Love Me."

The first video from Bon Iver's upcoming self-titled release, "Calgary," gives off that fall, forest-y vibe that pretty much every other Bon Iver song does.

Thursday Bears: Stream Bon Iver's self-titled album

The handful of anticipated releases this month haven't done much to disappoint. But Bon Iver's self-titled sophomore release, due out June 21 in the U.S. via Jagjaguwar, is primed to dwarf them all.

The follow-up to 2008's For Emma, Forever Ago is available for stream completely free until the actual release. Listen below courtesy of the New York Times. And if that's not for you, for whatever reason, NPR is also streaming the album.

Monday Bears: Return of the Bear, and Bon Iver

Now that I'm officially a college graduate, looking for any and all work (a little help, guys), Bears and Bullets will be back in full effect.

Earlier today, Bon Iver premiered the first single from their upcoming self-titled LP, "Calgary." The newer sound is a bit more fine-tuned and glossy, covered in subtle synth work, but still with Justin Vernon's rightfully ethereal vocals.
