Mixtape: Natural Self - Neon Hurtz

Bridging off his recently released Neon Hurts My Eyes LP, UK producer Natural Self released a bonus accompanying mixtape Neon Hertz. In the mix, he included a few of his own originals, along with tracks from Colin Stetson, Thom Yorke, Beak>, Portishead, Bjork, and plenty more.

New Colin Stetson video - To See More Light

Montreal-based avant-garde saxophonist Colin Stetson is truly a game-changer. His otherworldly vision, execution, and grand exclamation is confounding, deep, and insatiably provocative. Its an easy assertion for someone to listen to "To See More Light" and proudly bask in something completely original and intoxicating.

The new video, which comes from Stetson's upcoming album New History Warfare Vol. 3: To See More Light, is a hauntingly rich black-and-white footage of the Atlantic. Which, not coincidentally, Stetson often brings up during his live performances.

According to SPIN, Stetson often tells the short story of a whale in the Atlantic, saying, "There's this whale that lives in the Atlantic," he says. "Its song is off by a few hertz, which renders it unintelligible by all other whales, but it sings this song, continually for over a decade now, and no one will answer."

Supreme experimentalist Colin Stetson will be releasing his third and final offering of the New History Warfare trilogy this April with Vol. 3: To See More Light. Featured on the upcoming LP will be the distant, jarring, and chaotic "High Above A Grey Green Sea."

Bon Iver on SNL

After last week's debacle of Lana Del Rey, in whatever form you may find it more comforting to explain (along with a good impersonation from Kristin Wiig on last Saturday's show), Justin Vernon and the rest of Bon Iver made their first appearance on the Channing Tatum-hosted Saturday Night Live.

Just a week before the 53rd Grammy Awards, in which the aforementioned group is up for several awards, including 'Best New Artist,' despite being relevant for four-plus years now, Bon Iver performed a spectacular rendition of "Holocene" and a surprising rendition of the much maligned "Best/Rest." Watch the performances below, and look for Colin Stetson helping out for "Best/Rest."
