New Video; Fucked Up - Crooked Head

Here's the first video from Fucked Up's latest album The Chemistry of Common Life for their single "Crooked Head." It's a compilation of that massive show they gave in Manhatten before the release of The Chemistry of Common Life in which their lead singer, Pink Eyes, may have started without a shirt. It just seems like their kinda show.

Here's a wonderful video of Two Gallants performing their song "Damnatio Memoriae" on some freezing rooftop in the middle of somwhere. This is my first listen to the group, so just me let go for that slip.

You can also spot the band in the upcoming DVD Live from Bonnaroo 2008.

Listen to Andrew Bird's Noble Beast

Sadly, here's another post of an album we're going to have to wait a little until January 20th for. Luckily, unlike Merriweather Post Pavillion, we can listen to Andrew Bird's newest album Noble Son (via Fat Possum Records) before it's released thanks to NPR.

There seems to be some sort of pattern here - A.C. Newman, Antony and the Johnsons, Bon Iver, Matt & Kim, Music Go Music, and Telefon Tel Aviv all release albums on the 20th as well. Mark that day down.

You Should Be Listening To; Animal Collective

This is really one of my first You Should Be Listening To with an artist who's been as well established as Animal Collective, but you really should be listening to them. Yesterday marked the release of the newest album Merriweather Post Pavilion was released (available via Domino Records) to a mind-blowing amount of positive reviews - especially from Pitchfork.

The album will not be available for purchase in the States, unfortunately, until January 20th, so for the next thirteen days we'll just have to do with their incredible single, "My Girls." Check back at the end of 2009 where this song will, without any shadow of a doubt, make my best of year end list.

New Raveonettes Album Out This September

The Raveonettes are hitting the road on January 15th with a four-piece band for the last time in a while, because the duo will be in the studio prepping for their next full-length album, out this September.

The Band Said: "We're so ready to make the best album to date! It'll be released in September and we wanna do a proper studio album with a genius producer. There's only so much you can do in your living room and let's face it, whenever you pull out one of your favorite albums, it'll stand the test of time because of a timeless sound, excellent production and songwriting. Now's the right time for us to step it up…"

New Video; The Very Best - Kamphopo

The Very Best (Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit) have released the first video off of their astoundingly good mixtape The Very Best for their single "Kamphopo." Note Mwamwaya's family in the video (in Malawi) that he apparently hasn't seen in nine years.

Joy to All.
