New Sonic Youth Album On The Way

Alternative rock icons Sonic Youth, according to Kevin O'Donnell's interview in Rolling Stone with Thurston Moore, in his article "Sonic Youth Back in the Studio, Close to Signing With New Label" have a new album in the works. O'Donnell reports:

"Moore does reveal, however, that Sonic Youth are currently in the writing-stage of their next album. In November, they’ll hit the studio to cut tracks, with the goal of releasing the disc sometime next spring."

Moore also told Rolling Stone that the band has indeed left Geffen Records shortly after the label released their last album Rather Ripped. As for moving away from the major label, Moore said, “The last four or five records we did were just so compromised by that [major label] situation. But that’s the way it goes” (O'Donnell.)
