AsDSSKa

Aska Matsumiya and David Scott Stone make up AsDSSKa, a group virtually unknown until the recent release of their Spike Jonze and Crystal Moselle directed video for their song "Hold On," off the group's upcoming album 25.

Thanks to Bobby Solomon for finding this one.

New Grizzly Bear Video "Two Weeks"

Veckatimest, Grizzly Bear's newest album (out this Tuesday), has been getting plent of indie-buzz for roughly half a year now following last year's first listen to the amazing "While You Wait for the Others"and last year's July performance on Letterman. Keeping figures in mind, it's hard not to get too excited for the album's release.

None too soon, the band has released the album's first official video for their single "Two Weeks." The Patrick Daughters directed video features all of the members slow and bug-eyed for an ultimate eruption. The song's still the selling point.

Breakfast at Sulimay's

It's been a good while since we've heard any senior takes on the modern music we love so much. Last time out, Bill, Ann, and Joe gave their negative take on Animal Collective's "My Girls," so there isn't too much hope for a positive spin on Dan Deacon.

The three also take a crack at Common's "Universal Mind Control," The Doves "Kingdom of Rust," and, their favorite, Bon Iver's "Blood Bank."

Iron & Wine on Fallon

Iron & Wine released Around the Well, a collection of unreleased gems off of the band's catalog, yesterday. Oddly enough, the during the band's Fallon appearance the group didn't perform anything from it, but rather a new song entitled "Godless Brother in Love."

Ah yes. During rehearsals the band also performed a cover of New Order's "Love Vigilantes," making it sound nothing like New Order.

The band is currently touring the many Canadian Summer music festivals and will be back in the U.S. August 15 for Philadelphia's Folk Festival.

The Beatles and Kinks are Playing at My House

Check out this video mash-up of The Beatles "Get Back" and The Kinks "You Really Got Me" to LCD Soundsystem's "Daft Punk is Playing at My House," courtesy of You Ain't No Picasso.

This is one of the many cool mash-ups that can be heard on Faroff's Myspace, who's apparently made quite a name for himself for his mixes, including "Funky Shack," a mix of The B-52's, Lipps, Inc., Soulwax, Patrick Hernandez, and Yello.

New Wilco Songs

Two songs from Wilco's upcoming self-titled album have been leaked (courtesy of Pop Tarts Suck Toasted) online. The result, which is good to hear, is that Wilco (The Album) is a much finer and outstanding album than their last effort, 2006's Sky Blue Sky.

The band, currently on the final leg of their European tour, will be back in the U.S. in mid-June, supporting the release of Wilco (The Album), June 30, via Nonesuch Records.

Mastodon on Letterman and Kings of Leon on Leno

Mastodon made their first Late Show appearance last Thursday supporting their most recent and most earth shattering album yet, Crack the Skye. As for the song choice, I'm guessing "Divinations" didn't fit the talk show bill too well.

The band, who are currently supporting Metallica on the leg of their massive Summer tour, will be appearing at this year's Outside Lands Festival in San Fransisco, August 28-30.

Kings of Leon, one of the headliners at this year's Lollapalooza, stopped by The Tonight Show last Friday, performing their surprisingly well-made single "Use Somebody" off of their 2008 album Only By the Night.

Local readers note - the band will be performing at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ on September 12.
